Celebrating 75 Years at Maes Dolau Caravan Park

Celebrating 75 Years at Maes Dolau Caravan Park

This year marks a very special milestone for us at Maes Dolau Caravan Park, as we celebrate 75 years of welcoming guests to our beautiful park here in Llanrhos, North Wales.

To mark the occasion, we held a wonderful afternoon tea celebration in September, bringing together our holiday home owners, friends, and family to share memories and celebrate everything that makes Maes Dolau such a special place.

Our story began back in 1950, and in 1994, Rikki and Helen Proffitt took over the park. They dedicated themselves to creating first-class surroundings for our holiday guests, building a reputation for Maes Dolau as one of North Wales’s most welcoming and well-cared-for parks. Today, their daughter Kelly proudly continues that legacy, ensuring the same warmth and quality our guests have come to know and love.

“Our holiday home owners come from both sides of the Welsh border, but all share a love for this beautiful part of the world,” says Kelly. “We’re in a privileged location, just a short distance from Llandudno’s historic promenade and pier, with Colwyn Bay, the Conwy Valley, and Snowdonia all nearby — and some fantastic walks right from the park itself.”

Over the years, Maes Dolau has inspired incredible loyalty among our owners and guests. One family from St Helens has even owned a holiday caravan here for 58 years — a reflection of the friendships and memories made here over the decades.

As part of our 75th anniversary celebrations, we’ve also chosen Manchester’s Christie Hospital as our 2025 Charity of the Year, with fundraising events planned throughout the year to support their vital work.

We’re so proud of how far we’ve come and incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey — from the early days through to today’s thriving community of owners and visitors. Here’s to the next 75 years of happy holidays and warm Welsh hospitality!

Alongside our privately owned holiday homes, we also offer touring pitches, a charming shepherd’s hut, and a two-bedroom holiday cottage available to rent — perfect for those looking to experience the Maes Dolau magic for themselves.
